MetLife’s Annual Study of Employee Benefits Trends http://hm-b.com/content/events/performance-evaluations-and-documentation/ http://hm-b.com/content/events/performance-evaluations-and-documentation/#comments Mon, 03 Aug 2009 22:06:19 +0000 Administrator http://hm-b.com/?p=414 Wednesday July 28, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM CST

For the eighth consecutive year, MetLife has surveyed employers and employees on pressing issues facing the U.S. benefits industry today and compiled the results in its annual Study of Employee Benefits Trends.

This year’s results point to the apparent resilience of workplace benefits in a challenging economy and reveal that as employers and employees continue to deal with the effects of the economic downturn, they are focused on the long term. Most employers have not reneged on their benefits commitments and employees continue to depend on their workplace benefits for protection and stability. The Study provides new insights that can help employers identify opportunities to realize the full potential of their benefits programs and to maximize the return on their benefits investments.

Please join us for this discussion by Bryan Laiche with MetLife on Wednesday, July 28th from 12:00-1:00pm at Hartwig Moss. This presentation will be available via GoToWebinar (see link below). Below is a link to the MetLife study that he will be discussing.

Health Care Reform Requirements Impacting Multiemployer Plans http://hm-b.com/content/events/hr-audits-what-you-need-to-know-about-hr-practices/ http://hm-b.com/content/events/hr-audits-what-you-need-to-know-about-hr-practices/#comments Sun, 02 Aug 2009 05:37:42 +0000 Administrator http://hm-b.com/?p=520 Thursday May 20th, 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. CST

On Tuesday, March 30, the President signed the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act, the reconciliation companion to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. This historic legislation affects nearly every American imposing specific benefit mandates on health plans, requiring employers to offer their workers high quality health insurance coverage (and imposing penalties if they do not) and requiring Americans to purchase health insurance.Nowhere is the impact of this law more complicated (and less clear) than it is with respect to multiemployer plans – everything from the application of grandfathering and effective dates of various mandates to the elimination of waiting periods. This webcast will focus specifically on the effect of health care reform on multiemployer plans. Topics will include:

  • An up-to-the minute clear and complete review of the legislation’s main requirements as they relate to multiemployer plans
  • A practical discussion of the types of issues that multiemployer plans will be grappling with in the short and long term.
